Modernizing a 20-Year-Old Trading Service
QQQTrader Β· Financial Services / Trading Signals
Overview
QQQTrader has been in business for two decades. Its original service β still live today at qqqtrading.com β delivers buy and sell signals for QQQ, the ETF tracking the Nasdaq-100, built on a proven mechanical trading model. The signals worked and the customers were loyal, but the business around them had aged: a dated website, a one-dimensional monetization model, and no modern acquisition engine. The value was real; the packaging and growth machine were stuck in an earlier era.
The Challenge
This was a modernization problem, not a rebuild-from-scratch one. We had to breathe new life into an established business without breaking what already worked. The old site didn't convert modern traffic or communicate the credibility the service had earned. Monetization was leaving money on the table, with customer lifetime value sitting around $350 spread across multiple years. And running paid acquisition in financial services is uniquely hard β ad platforms scrutinize finance offers heavily, and any downtime or compliance slip can take a whole account offline. We needed modern growth without putting a decades-old business at risk.
Our Solution
We developed a brand-new site completely in-house with our software team β faster, modern, and engineered to convert while preserving the trust the brand had built since 2005. We reworked monetization around a subscription model, and rather than guessing, we trialed multiple signup structures β free trials, $1 paid trials, and more β until we landed on the offer structure that performed best for the specific audience we were targeting. To drive traffic we ran Meta ads built on fully custom AI creatives designed and tested specifically to convert this audience, and we ran them on top of our proprietary tech that prevents downtime β critical when a single interruption to a financial-services ad account can be catastrophic. Before asking for the sale, we built a proprietary quiz flow that educates and warms up users so they arrive at checkout already qualified and bought-in. Finally, we expanded the product itself: we built an AI analysis system that reads charts and QQQ-related news articles to generate extra insight on top of the original buy/sell signals β adding real, ongoing value that justifies a recurring subscription.
Where It's Headed
The result is a legacy business running on a modern engine. Customer lifetime value nearly doubled β from roughly $350 over multiple years to $600 in under twelve months β and the client now has a recurring revenue stream monetizing the same core product they've always offered, repackaged and adapted for a new user base. The new site, the subscription model, the AI-enhanced product, and the acquisition funnel all reinforce each other: better creative brings better-fit users, the quiz warms them up, the subscription retains them, and the AI analysis keeps them getting value month after month. What was a steady, decades-old signal service is now a growing, modern subscription business β and the same playbook has plenty of room left to scale.
Before & After

The legacy site (still live at qqqtrading.com) versus the modern, conversion-engineered site we built in-house.
Creative That Converted
Fully custom AI-generated ad creatives, built and tested specifically to convert this audience and feed the top of the funnel.
βThey took a business we'd run for twenty years and made it feel brand new β new site, new revenue model, and technology that added value we couldn't have built ourselves. Same product, far more valuable customers.β
